Admission
On this page you will find information about the selection process in continuing education and training programs, the application deadlines, the required certificates of language proficiency, the application procedure and the admission procedure, the u:account and the initial registration for prospective students, and the legalization of previous education.
Selection procedure
To be admitted to a continuing education and training program, all applicants have to successfully complete a selection procedure. For admission, you have to complete an application form in which you describe your motivation and your objectives.
The Academic Director is responsible for the selection procedure. If you have questions about the selection procedure, please contact the responsible Program Management.
Application deadlines
You can find the application deadlines on the sub-pages of the individual continuing education and training program. If you have any questions about the application deadlines, please contact the responsible Program Management.
Certificates of language proficiency
The language of instruction in continuing education and training programs is usually German or English. Persons whose first language is not German have to demonstrate a good command of German. The Academic Director decides on the type of evidence that applicants have to provide.
If a continuing education and training program is held in English, applicants have to demonstrate a good command of English. Here too, the Academic Director decides on the type of evidence that applicants have to provide.
Application and selection procedure
The Program Management will send you all necessary information about the application and selection procedure after you have been notified of your admission to a continuing education and training program.
u:account and initial registration for students
After you have been notified of your admission to a continuing education and training program, the Program Management will send you relevant information and ask you to create a u:account and complete the initial registration for students on u:space.
Legalization
Depending on the issuing country, you may have to submit legalizations of your documents. If there are legalization provisions relating to the country that issued your documents (see link below), your documents must already be legalized when you submit your application. The legalizations must be attached to the original documents.
Apostille
If your documents have to be legalized in the form of an apostille, please contact the ministry of foreign affairs in the issuing country. In some countries, the ministry of justice or the ministry of education are responsible for issuing apostilles. The apostille has to confirm the signature on the original document (not the signature of the notary). Applicants whose documents are issued by the People’s Republic of China require a confirmation from the Akademische Prüfstelle (academic examination office) of the German Embassy in Beijing in addition to the legalized documents.
Full legalization
For the full legalization of your documents, you require confirmations from the ministry of education as well as the ministry of foreign affairs in the issuing country (in some countries, the ministry of justice is responsible). As a last step, the Austrian representative authority (embassy or consulate) responsible for the country that issued the documents has to additionally legalize these confirmations. For some countries, this authentication by the Austrian representation is suspended. If that is the case, only the national certifications by the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Foreign Affairs are required.
Translation
All documents required for the application procedure must be translated (after they have been legalized) if they were not issued in German or English. The documents have to be translated by a sworn and certified translator. The translation can only be done after the documents have been legalized, as the legalization stamp must be translated as well.
