Students’ Union fee (ÖH fee)

Amount of the ÖH (Students’ Union) fee in the academic year 2024/2025

In the winter semester 2024/2025 and summer semester 2025 the amount of the ÖH fee is EUR 24.70.

70 cents of the fee go to the ÖH accident and liability insurance. The rest of the fee is divided among the federal Students' Union and the individual unions at Austrian higher educational institutions.

General information about the Students’ Union fee (ÖH fee)

All students of the University of Vienna, including participants in continuing education and training programs have to re-enroll in their program. You have to pay the required fee for re-enrollment. Fees also include the compulsory contribution to the Austrian National Union of Students (Students’ Union fee).

Payment of the ÖH fee for participants in continuing education and training programs

For participants of continuing education and training programs, the ÖH fee is included in the program fees. The Postgraduate Center at the University of Vienna pays the ÖH fee for you. You do not have to pay the ÖH fee via u:space.

Special conditions for participants enrolled in multiple programs

If you are enrolled in a degree program at the University of Vienna (bachelor’s, master’s, diploma, doctoral, PhD programs) in addition to continuing education and training programs, you only have to pay the ÖH fee once. Please note that you might be required to pay tuition fees for other degree programs. This is the case, for example, if you did not complete the degree program within the standard duration (including tolerance semesters) specified in the curriculum. In these cases, you may also have to pay the tuition fee.
You can apply for reimbursement of the ÖH fee if you have accidentally paid the ÖH fee twice. You can find the corresponding form at the Servicedesk of the University of Vienna in the Admission Office area.

Payment

Invoicing and payment

You will receive the invoice of the program fee from the finance department of the Postgraduate Center via e-mail. Please only pay the fee after you have received the invoice and add the invoice number as purpose in the bank transfer.
If you have any questions about the invoice, please contact: rechnung.pgc@univie.ac.at

Re-enrollment

If you are a university student, you have to pay the tuition/Students' Union fee every semester in due time by the end of the admission period and/or the period of grace to be able to continue your studies. By paying the tuition/Students’ Union fee, you are automatically re-enrolled on your degree program for the next semester.

When you have been re-enrolled on your degree program, you can download the current study documents (student record sheet, confirmation of enrolment) from u:space under Personal matters > My documents, print them and validate your u:card for the next semester.

For participants of continuing education and training programs, the Students’ Union fee (ÖH fee) is already included in the program fees. The re-enrollment becomes effective as soon as the Postgraduate Center has transferred the Students’ Union fee (ÖH fee) for you. Therefore, you do not have to pay the Students’ Union fee separately.

Please note that you might be required to pay tuition fees for other degree programs at the University of Vienna. This is the case, for example, if you did not complete another degree program within the standard duration (including tolerance semesters) specified in the curriculum. These fees have to be paid in full and within the relevant payment. Otherwise, your re-enrollment becomes ineffective and you will be excluded from your degree programs.
