5 reasons for the master program "European Studies"

 Understanding Europe

Many of the relevant decisions concerning different areas of life of European societies are no longer taken at the national level, but rather at the EU level. Participants in the master program in European Studies acquire academic, practice-oriented and interdisciplinary knowledge regarding European integration, the working methods of the EU institutions and Europe's cultural and social self-conception, also from a global perspective. Thereby the participants gain an understanding of Europe from a variety of perspectives.

 Interdisciplinarity

The master program "European Studies" is interdisciplinary: Students will consider and analyze Europe and the process of European integration from an economic, legal, political, sociological and historical and cultural perspective. In addition, participants examine the interplay between law, politics, society, economy, culture and languages in the context of developments in Europe. Furthermore the participants’ academic and professional diversity ensures interdisciplinary dialogue.

 Practice-oriented

Experts from academia and practice teach in the postgraduate program "European Studies". The contents are studied from a problem- and application-oriented perspective. As a participant, you also have the possibility to take part in a field trip to Brussels, the "heart of the EU". This gives you the opportunity to visit different institutions on site and to meet other experts from practice. The curriculum also comprises a course about the career opportunities in the EU.

 Building networks

The limited number of participants in the program enables an intensive exchange in class. Participants can network with each other as well as with the lecturers thanks to the small group size. In addition, students also have the opportunity to engage in networking with graduates from previous years.
